The Public Records Office (PR0) in London, England, is one of the richest genealogical repositories in the world, equivalent in many ways to our own National Archives.

Although it is located thousands of miles away from America, it is quite feasible to use the PRO.

The purpose of this book is to help North Americans make the most effective use of PRO records. At its core, the book provides a general introduction to major PRO records classes of special interest to North American researchers and helps them to make more effective use of their time at the PRO whenever they choose to conduct research in London. Significantly, however, it also identifies many of the most important PRO records available in large North American institutions, such as the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario.
